97 Z28 question

I have a chance to buy a 97 z28 T-Tops, auto. It has a Borla catback on it and it is silver with cloth interior. It has 167K on the odometer and but he says both motor and tranny only have 65K on them but can't provide any receipts. He said it was done by previous owner and he lost the receipt in a move. Is there any way I can check at a dealership to see if this has been done. He said it was done at a dealer in Georgia and I am in Missouri along with him just moving here. It is really a clean car the only other thing was a brake light was on in the Dash but he says it is the emergency brake switch. Good Deal or not? Any way to verify the new motor and tranny?

thanks

Larry

If you can find out what dealership did the work, it is possible they might still have the invoice on file and can look it up via your VIN number I would imagine.
