97 Z28 problem after cleaning engine

after cleaning engine car cranked fine pulled in garage and after about 2 weeks went to crank car and it spun over for about 30 to 40 secs before starting then had a miss and a bad smell what could have got wet to cause it to do that THANKS

Getting the Optispark distributor wet will often cause problems like that. Did you protect the Opti before cleaning the engine? How did you clean it?

cleaned with engine cleaner and i did not cover the opti dist is there a way to dry out the opti dist thanks again

The vented opti's are designed to pull moisture out of them with the car running. If you can get it to run, maybe it will just take a little time to straighten itself out and be just fine. Corrosion is bad and letting them sit with moisture in there can ruin them over time.
