96 lt1 with a4 :help removing shift handle

how do you remove the handle to get the plastic console out? someone must know? i didnt see a clip once i removed the square button!

There's a staple like clip about half way down the front of the handle.
Just pry it loose with a small flat screwdriver.
It just presses in to reinstall it.

Pry out this clip, then pull up on the ****. It may feel stuck and come loose unexpectedly. Don't hit yourself in the face.

Even when you are not removing the shfter ****, you should not hit yourself in the face.
