94 camaro z28 starter/ignition issue

my car wasn't starting so i replaced the starter and had the battery replaced under waranty.

everything worked great but today when i shut the car off, i noticed that the starter was still running (disengaged) even after i took the key out of the ignition. finally, i had to disconnect the batt to shut it off, i put the key in and turned it all the way back then took it out again, reconnected the battery, and started the car normally, but once again, when i turned it off, the starter continued running.

has anyone heard anything like this? does it sound like a starter issue or an ignition switch issue?

Thanks

I would check your starter wiring, since you just replaced it.

i doublechecked it and it was good. it worked fine for a few days and started messing up today.

also, i just removed the starter and had it tested at advance auto, they said it was fine but they are having it replaced anyways.

could bypassing the vats have any effect on this problem?

problem fixed. the new remanufactured starter shorted out on the inside.
