My low beam bulb burnt out and I've been reading the old threads about upgrades and the silicone trick with the 9005/6 bulbs.

I pulled my bulb out (Sylvania) and I was able to undo the bulb from the socket by hand. The part the bulb sits in is plastic and has a knearled finish, not a smooth finish like those seen modifying. The bulb is obviously replaceable, the question is, what is it? I grabbed a 9006, but it's way too big to fit.

Anyone have any idea? Seems easy enough to pick up a new one and put some new silicone on it and be good to go.

 

You have to remove the plastic piece. You don't even need silicone it's optional. The o-ring on the new bulbs will hold them in.
