Post 93-96 Camaro Cupholder Fix

Hello folks, I thought I'd add to the board's wealth of information by including this little mod I just completed. As most of you know the 93-96 Camaros have a pretty much useless cupholder. I came up with an easy and cheap fix for it. I don't know if it's been done before, but here it is anyway.

and not have to worry about spilling your pepsi all over your recently cleaned shifter or passenger.
Interesting concept.
...but
How do you know if you have a "recently cleaned passenger"? (if you did not know them intimately)

Any more detailed info on your console lid fix? Mine has some hinges on it but when you close it, it just doesnt line up right.

Re: 93-96 Camaro Cupholder Fix

I guess it depends on which part of the hinge is broken. On my camaro, only the hinges on the lid were broken off. That gave me the option of still being able to use the portion of the hinge remaining on the actual console. I just took two curtain hooks, pierced them into the lid's rubber, next to where the original plastic hinge would be, and aligned them so as to be able to slide them into the hinge on the console. It's not perfect, but it does the job. I added a quick and dirty illustration to the site above to help explain.

Not a bad fix. I had thought about cutting the cup holder out and trying to find some way to recess it more.
In the end i just did this mod.

Sure it cost $100, but it has 4 usable cupholders, a console lid that doesn't break, and 2 cigarette lighters/accessory plugs if you are like me and don't smoke. I don't have a gap in my car anymore now that i added the Trans Am dash, but i did have it for a month or so. Its not really that bad.

2country, I remember seeing that extension as well. I just didn't like the price. I think it was around $75 if I remember correctly. I couldn't find the link in my list, but I did find one for you thirdgen folks.
