I got my 454 BBC in my 95 Z yesterday. Of course you can tell by the photo's I went in through the bottom. This payed off really well because I had to lift the car about 4-5 times to do some modifications on my firewall on the drivers side. It wasn't too bad. Only took me about 5 hours and that was having to make room for the bigger motor too. Putting an LT or LS-1 back in this way shouldn't take an hour or so.

Re: 454 is in 95 Z-28
I'm going to have to cut a little for the carb to fit. It''' fit fine but I have to use a low profile air filter. As of right now I can get my hand inbetween the engine and the firewall on both sides. So I don't think anything will be anymore difficult maintance wise than on a LT-LS motor.
I'm probably going to make my own headers. I might try a set of Hooker Headers that are supposed to work but the primaries aren't that big. I'm going to run a 3" x-pipe and bullet mufflers.
Suspension will be worked on after everything else is done. I'm also working on my 9" rear end right now.
