3rd gen intake?

What is a good intake for the 3rd gen v6? I want to upgrade from the restrictive stocker so I can get more air in the engine.

Re: 3rd gen intake?

if you have the dual snorkel intake it flows good enough for your v6. there are many people making 400+ hp with that same intake setup. just go to www.thirdgen.org and read the technical articles about making a home made ram air intake.

Re: 3rd gen intake?

are you talking the intake manifold or the plastic intake system?

i would look for a junk TPI and get the intake off that.

doesn't SLP make a cold air intake for those cars?

Yes, I mean the plastic intake/airfilter thing. I've looked on eBay for a cold air intake, but could only find them for the 4th gen cars.

What exactly is a TPI? edit: is this what you mean? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=43946

Re: 3rd gen intake?

that ebay piece is exactly what i mean. but you need the piece that mounts to the radiator support around the hood latch which that Y connects to.

if you can find those two parts you'll be good, then build a ram air tunnel from behind the fog lights up to the bottom of the air filter box....serious highway advantage.

my 87 iroc use to pull like mad above 50mph

Is the ram air piece stock? I'm working on painting a Z28 grill so I can put on my RS, so I'll have that. Do you have any pictures so I'll know what else to look for? Does this use a different air filter than what I have on there now?
