30th Anniversary

I took my 30th Anniversary z28 (A4, stock except for exhaust and manual fan switch) to the strip last Friday (1/8) and here's my best run.

r/t - .126
60 ' - 2.137
330 ' - 5.935
MPH - 60.37
1/8 - 9.055
MPH - 78.85

My last time going to the track was in late july and it ran mid 9s, compared to now when it was about 70 - 75 * and I was runnin very low to low 9s (9.3xx was worst).

For my next mod, I was thinkin about 3.73 gears...any suggestions?

Re: 30th Anniversary

well do u have 273's or 323's(if u have a selectable 1st gear then u have 323's)...If u have 323's Id wait on the 373's...Cai and Long tube headers next....Long Tubes help a LT1 big time.

I guess I have 3.23s then. I thought the 97 zs came with like 2.73s or something along those lines?

Re: 30th Anniversary

You could always check your RPO codes in the door jamb or glovebox... GU2=2.73 gears and GU5=3.23 or if your gear selector has both the 1st and 2nd gear select then it should be equipped with 3.23s. As for your next mods, I second the headers and cold air intake idea followed up by a mail-order tune.

I paid 430.00 for my coated Pacesetter longtubes, but they're are better deals out there. I paid another 130.00 for my y-pipe, but once again there are better deals if you look. Speed-Engineering, one of our boards supporting vendors, runs these on special sometimes at a very good rate. There are some extras involved too:
rear 02 simulators: 90.00
3" band clamps: 40.00
Felpro 1406 header gaskets: 20.00
02 harness extensions: 40.00
