Thumbs down 1999 Z28 Window

My driver side window is starting to flake out on me. Sometimes when i roll it down it take about 10 min to get it back up. It will only go up 2 inches at a time. Then i have to wait a few sec and then try again...WHY, and how do i fix? I hate Mondays!

Sorry, but you have to get a new motor... ~$60-70 at Advance but muuuch cheaper on Ebay, for a set of two! I don't know about reliability of the Ebay ones tho... Replacement instructions via Shoebox's site are found here: http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html

The 2" at a time has something to do with the motor heat sink. As stated above, you need a new motor.

Happens on all 93-02 F-bodies. They have complete garbage power windows.

Replace the motor.

This is not an engine tech question so I'm going to move it to general tech.

Ive owned 2 W-bodies and an F-body. Both W-bodies started doing just this when they were about 10 years old. My 99 camaro is just starting to do it now.

Guess these things only last about a decade.

You will need a power drill, both to drill through the fiberglass panel and the rivets holding the motor to the regulator. Courtesy of Shoebox:
