I am looking to buy a 1996 Camaro Z28 / SS Convertible optioned with a LT4 engine and SLP Conversion Package. Are there any other Camaros out there with this combo package? Was this a "YENKO" type of setup for the 1997 30Th Year Anniversary Pkg. Any information on this prototype would be helpful, now that SLP Engineering is no longer in business to contact. Thanks.

The only factory LT4 SS's were the 106 built in 1997 model year. None of them was a convertible. Any 1996 SS LT4 will likely be someone's attempt to clone that setup. A 1996 SS by itself would be an SLP conversion. Look for the SLP build tag on the door, and RPO "R7T" on the service parts label.

David Hamburger, formerly an owner of SLP, can still be contacted at Specialty Vehicle Engineering in Toms River, NJ. Roush owns SLP now, but I don't believe Roush is particularly helpful with questions related to the SLP products.

I have a 96 SS with a LT4. But I did build it myself. As far as I know, Injuneer's information is correct. Only 97's had LT4's. But I did notice in one video made back in the day that there was at least 1 car that had the 96 dash and it was a SLP LT4. Maybe they experimented with the concept in 96.
