11.7 volts current draw with everything off

11.7 volts current draw with everything off

i have a current draw problem with my lt1 camaro. when i disconnect the battery cable and read my voltage i have 11.7 current draw from something, are there any particular components that are likely to go bad,or will i just have to start unplugging pieces until i find it.thanks

i am disconnecting either the negative or positive battery and using a voltmeter between the batttery cable and the corresponding lug on the battery to get my reading

You don't measure current draw on the voltage scale. You use amps.

Yes what he said. all you are doing is measuring what your battery voltage is.

Bust out the Digital Multi Meter and set it to a 20 amp setting. Run it in series with the negative battery terminal. Make sure your doors are closed and wait about 30 seconds. That will display all of the amperage being drawn from your vehicle.

Should you be seeing a current draw out of the ordinary, start pulling fuses until you find the source.

Identify, Isolate, Eliminate.
