01 SS advice plz

I'm considering trading my low mileage 96Z A4 for an 01 SS M6. The 01 SS has less than 25K miles on it. Since I'm not that familar with the LS based motors or the M6, I'd appreciate any advice that you might be willing to share, or look out for? Thanks in advance!

I have a 2001 SS and M6 and I really like the power and running through the gears, it's a blast unless your in gridlock traffic all the time. I am told the stock front brakes and roaters dont last, mine were changed before I bought it with 24k on the car. the cars require 5.5 quarts of oil which can catch you if you arent aware of that and many burn a little oil, but not a worry. They also have traction control which they come with a factory button to turn it off because it will cut the power when you hit it hard or the wheels start to spin. Between power, style and fun to drive, it is one of the best cars I've owned.

Ah heck, that's barely broken in!!! In all honesty, there aren't too many differences between your current car or an LS1, except (obviously) the engine and trans!! But my point is, you know the CAR. As far as the drivetrain, if you test drive it and the clutch feels bad, or it (not you) grinds going into gears or something, then maybe there's a problem, but otherwise, EXPECT to hear a little light "ticking" from the engine (sounds like noisy lifters/rockers or something) ... that's a "normal" LS1 sound!! Don't worry, it doesn't mean . With that mileage, it's got PLENTY of miles left, so as long as it's not blowing huge clouds of blue smoke or anything, then I'd say it's good to go!

Enjoy rowing the gears with an LS1 ... the power difference should be quite noticable .

Some big differences, the LS1 is an all aluminum block with 6 bolt mains and packs alot more power from the factory. Not to mention it doesn't have the dreaded Optispark but instead a coil-per-cylinder setup. If you are trading a low mileage LT1 for a low mileage LS1, I say go for it.
