What is the cause of the this sparking? help

Ok so my car has been hesitating a bit and i starteed it with the garage lights off and saw the coil sparking on the coil wire. Replaced the coil wire with a msd 8.5mm and replaced my opti harness as well, it was cracked. Started the car and i can hear a audible clicking and see a spark jumping from the coil wire and feel the car missing. Would this be caused by a faulty coil or a failing opti? It has a stock coil on it and i don't see any arching coming from any of the plug wires. It's really driving me crazy. I need a solution.

There's gotta be a big break in a wire or something if the spark is jumping to ground at the coil (path of least resistance).

My opti was making sounds like that the day before it crapped out. I believe the cap was at fault on mine as the optical sensor and sector wheel looked perfect, but just replaced the entire thing as it is a pain to have to do again.

?somtimes the coil towers leak , and the only thing you can do is replace the coil, did you use dielectric grease on the coil boot?

on another note that clicking you hear with out any visible spark is usally on of two things carbon tracked distributor cap thats leaking elec or the sound of the rotor just before it comes apart or comes loose

get some dielectric grease and put it in the boot of the coil wire , and see if it helps, you should have no elec leakage at all.

Well i did the wires and took it for a test drive. I can still hear the clicking/sparking with the hood closed. It sounds like it's coming from the opti/coil area. It ran ok but wanted to almost die at every stop sign. RPMs would drop down to like 550-600 and then pop back up. It doesn't do it in the driveway during revs. I'm at my wits end with this prob. Everthing is new but the opti. No codes. I might actually have to break down and take it to a mechanic, I didn't think i wouldn't find the answer here.
