smelling fuel

hey everyone i have a 95 z28 and lately when i come to stop lights etc ive been smelling fuel sometimes a lot and sometimes very little. It has a aftermarket fuel pump that was installed previous to my buying the car. I looked at the fuel rail area etc and didnt see anything. Anyone have any ideas on where to look etc. Sorry if i sound dumb but im new to these engines etc. thanks everyone

Can you smell it when your outside of the car. If it smells strong by the DS rear by the fill door it is probably bad lines to the charcoal EVAP canister or the canister is saturated w/ fuel.

It could also be an exhaust leak or loose spark plug if your car is running rich. i had the same problem and it was actually my spark plug was about to fall out.

What cause the EVAP cannister to get fuel soaked?

If the fuel seem is from a satuarted charcoal EVAP canister, what can we do to prevent the replacement from being soaked too?

Make sure the purge system is operating correctly. Don't try to fill the tank all the way to the fuel cap level.
