Running lean

98 LS1 running lean. My qustion is two fold,
1) When I turn the ign. to the on position there is no gas getting to the fuel rails. Could that be a bad fuel pump and give me the lean codes? I've looked at just about everything else.
2) What the hell is the vacuum hose at the pass. side, bottom of the throttle body?
Thanks for any help.

Re: Running lean

Have you replaced the fuel filter lately? Can you hear the pump running, when you turn the key on? If you have no fuel pressure at the rails, it can only be a couple things. If you had no fuel getting to the fuel rails, the car would not run.

Re: Running lean

Yes,I've repalced the fuel filter and the fuel presure reg. on the fuel rail. The pump runs right at first like normal, but no fuel gets to the rails. I turn it over a couple of times then let off and turn it over again and then it starts and has fuel presure. I know I need to get a gage to see what the presure is but I haven't yet.

Re: Running lean

Also check the fuel pressure while driving. Maybe the pump is starting to dye and will allow it to start, but can't keep up with normal to wot driving. Also make sure it hold pressure for a few minutes after shutting down.

Re: Running lean

I took it back to the shop that put the fuel pump in and had them test it and what do you know,it had only 30psi. So,luck would have it that it's still under warranty,so they are fixing it right now.
