racetronix FP install problems.

I just ordered a racetronix 255lph kit and got it today finally. But right off the bat ive been having fitment issues with the stock bucket. First I shaved down the two ridges by the inlet hole so it will sit straight, but now the pump does not feel like it wants to go into the inlet hole on the bucket. Ive tried everything and cannot figure it out, it seems like its loose when it shouldnt be. My question is if the pump should be farther down in the inlet to where its touching the bottom of the bucket...Help me please

ok so i messed with it a little more and the inlet of the walbro will NOT fit into the inlet on the bucket. I cut one of my old buckets in half to prove this. I had to push as hard as I could to get it down in the inlet and all it did was crack it. Just my luck...after waiting 2 weeks to get the pump it does not even fit in the stock bucket like it is advertised to do. And to top it off the car was supposed to be done for the track tomorow. I really wanted to go racing

I remeber when I did mine I had to shave some of the inner plastic of the bucket....I also forget, isn't it supposed to go al the way down and then the top that you glue back up is supposed to hold is straight with the flex tube?

Sorry its been years since I did it, try it...I remeber it going all the way down and on the outside you put that 6" long filter looking item at the mouth of the pump.

Search around there is a guide somewhere around here.

"Racetronix encourages customers to purchase from our authorized dealers for personalized support."

It's sad that in this day and age, a manufacturer can't provide any
technical support for their products. Since it's really a Walbro pump,
maybe you can check in here to get some assistance:
http://wem.walbro.com/distributors/

There are Tech Tips, Manuals, etc and there's a Contact Us page.

I had the same exact problem you are having and the same crappy tech support. The problem is that the pumps with the center inlet (if that's what you have) dont fit the bucket like the pumps with the offset inlet (like the stock ones have). Walbro makes new pumps that have the offset inlet and would fit - too bad that isnt the one in your kit. And I did mine five years ago and they knew about it then, because i told them about it. Anyway I shoved it in there crooked and it worked, but I was pretty pissed when I first tried to put it in there and it didn't fit. I am just redoing my entire fuel system now, and so have ripped all that out of there and I had another chance to look at it just today...

And, yeah, trimming the ribs of the bucket might help some.

yea its the center inlet...it cracked the inlet of my bucket when i was trying to install it. I had also shaved down the fins on the inside wall of the bucket but that was not the problem..the problem was the inlet of the pump was the same diameter of the bucket inlet so it was next too impossible to fit in. I just bought it also after waiting 2 weeks for it while it was on backorder, and the pump is engraved 4/08 by racetronix. Im just confused as too why they advertise this kit as fitting into the stock bucket with only minor trimming to the ribs, but in my case that did nothing and the pump did not fit at all.
