Question about my injector install
Question about my injector install
I put some new injectors in today and have a question. The injectors "snapped" into place on the top into the fuel rail. When installing the whole assembly, the injectors seem to be just sitting snug in the manifold. Is this the way its supposed to be? I would assume if it had a snug fit the o ring is then what would make the seal.
Re: Question about my injector install
If I remember correctly, my svo's popped into place when I put them in the manifold bores. Not as firmly as they snap into place on the rail, but I do recall feeling them seat themselves in the bores.
Re: Question about my injector install
Hmmmmmm.....They are racetronix injectors, cant really get them to go any further into the manifold, the rail is bolted down as tight as it will go. I can also spin them around in place. I dunno, maybe the o ring will seal it?
Re: Question about my injector install
It's normal to be able to twist the injectors in place, and even have them slide up an down a bit (if retainer clips aren't used). They aren't supposed to be "crushed" into the holes in the manifold. The bottom o-ring only has to seal against the manifold vacuum (less than 30"Hg), not the fuel pressure. It's the upper o-ring that seals again the fuel pressure.
Are you using the clips to hold them in the rail?
Are you using the clips to hold them in the rail?
Re: Question about my injector install
no, not using the clips, as long as you verify to me that the o ring makes the seal on the bottom, that makes me feel better. i read the clips were only used to help during install and werent necessary, plus they didnt fit over new injectors. ill have to wait for my new fuel pump to get in and for my pcm to get back from getting flashed to test for any leaks. thanks
