Opti??

Car was shutting down, and engine light came on. So I brought it to a mechanic who red the code(s):

1- code 16 (Ignition low resolution pulse not detected)
2- code 36 (Ignition faulty high resolution signal)

He tested the wiring harnesses and determined the distributor is failing.
I was wondering if it could be anything else?

Also, i started pricing out new opti's and was wonder if anybody has used the Accel brand. I'd like to go MSD, but I don't have the extra cash, and thought Accel would be a little better than stock.

It sounds like an opti related problem, especially if the harness checked out. I would stick with an OEM opti, there have been a few complaint threads regarding the Accel.

Msd makes a cheaper version than the pro billet so you can do it for a decent price. I think the price it $150 for the cap and rotor kit. Check Ebay and places like Summit first.

Only problem though is the codes he is getting is very well pointing to the optical sensor portion of the opti. That would go beyond the scope of just a cap/rotor swap.
