in need of injector help
in need of injector help
i have decided to keep my car and my motor
i have done research on here found close to what i need help with but not exactly what i need.
i have 40lbs racetronix injectors that i wanna put in my 383 lt1. they are from my buddies ls1 camaro that had ran on e85 for 3 dyno pulls then pulled and sold to me. i went on site and they say they do not actually flow 40 there more like 37/38.
1st ? is. is this enough fuel for a 383,ai 200cc heads intake,23x/24x..58x/60x on a 107 lsa 58mm tb,headers that are dumped. i also have a holley afpr.
2nd ? is. they fit, plug and go in. i have not cycled the fuel pump to see if they leak. Are these going to work?
i also have a walbro 255 pump kit that i bought off a fellow board member
thanks phil

Re: in need of injector help
If I was you, I would sell the set on Ebay or wherever and get a bigger set that are for the LT1's. They would probably work, but you really should get a bigger set and it makes it so much easier since the LS injectors are a little different. You would need to have the car tuned for any bigger injectors.

What you need to determine is what pressure they require to flow 40 #/HR (or the lesser number you found on the Racetronix site). I entered "01D114B" in the Ractronix "search" and nothing came up. Site was also pathetically slow, so that may have been a factor. "01D114" turned up part # 01D114X, rated at 37 #/HR, but test pressure not stated (maybe they state somewhere else on their website what pressure they use for testing).
The "little different" part of the LS1 injectors is not the injector, its the operating pressure of the LS1 fuel system. Other than that there shouldn't be any issues. LS1 operates at 58psi (4 bar), LT1 operates at 43.5psi (3 bar).
Since you have an AFPR, you could increase your fuel pressure to 58psi. No problems with that as long as the injectors are compatible with the higher pressure, and the PCM is programmed with the correct flow rating/offsets at the higher pressure. I run 58psi, because it helps minimize the affect on fuel flow on a hard, high-G launch.
I wouldn't run less than 36 #/HR on that engine, and would lean toward 42 #/HR to prvide adequate headroom for really good density altitude days.
