Exclamation Msd ignition box ... Worth it?

I am considering a next low cost bolt on/plug in mod and it seems the MSD 6420 would be next in line.

Is this mod worth it or should I seek other mods. Considering the low cost I can't see it being a negative ... I just hope its not a waste.

what do you think?

you really did not give us much to work with here
what mods do you already have done

just from your sig i would say that i would spend that money on a set of long tubes, but there may even be some things i would buy before that, we need a mod list

My 2¢ is, the factory ignition system is a hot enough spark for your mods (which isn't much) listed. I had an MSD box with an extensive list of mods and went right back to the stock ignition system when the MSD box $hit the bed for unknown reasons. Don't waste your money, use it on LT's, you will feel quite a bit of difference with them. I would also get a cam and heads and port match your heads w/ the intake and with a dyno tune you should see some good #'s when your done. Like I said in the beginning, just my 2¢. Good luck.

thank you for the 0.2 ... much appreciated.

A personal goal of mine is to run 12.5 with no cam, heads, or LTs. Seems like it has rarely been done so I am looking at all other angles before I get into the heads/cam/intake set up. (I do have a set of LT4 heads ported/LT4 intake manifold port matched and a cam slightly more aggressive then the Lt4 hotcam) waiting for this 12.5 then its on!!

So looking into suspension and lil mods like an ignition box to try to reach this 12.5

We will see how the season goes, if the 12.5 gets unreachable then I will give in and

Many yrs. ago i bought a used Msd box from the early 80,s& never had any problems w/ it.IMO though ,don,t waste your money on a Msd coil as mine only lasted 1 yr. & a half & died last fall!
