Modifying fuel rails for AN fittings without welding
Modifying fuel rails for AN fittings without welding
I want to modify my fuel rails for use with 6 AN lines and an external regulator. I know welding is the common practice, but I want to try tapping my rails for pipe to AN adapters. It looks like a 1/2 inch NPT tap will work. I have no access to welding and I would like to do this myself. I know I will have to cut the line off of the passenger side rail. I was also wondering if it matters which side gets fuel first. I wouldn't think it would. I want to mount my regulator on the back of the intake where the EGR valve used to be.
Are you running series or parallel? It sounds like you are still going to be running in series. I have the rails already drilled if you want them. Why go through the trouble if you are still running in series and still going to have the regulator close to the stock mounting location. Just asking
In series. I have a couple extra sets of rails and I thought it would look nice. I also want a new regulator. Mine is not exactly a stock application. It is in a third gen. Do you have pics? How did you modify them?
I have the rails stripped. I have the pain in the butt line removed from the passenger side rail. I put a 1/2 NPT fitting up to it and it looks like it will work. If I can come up with a tap I will order some adapters. I am going to try to find a bottoming tap tomorrow. I found some AN to pipe adapters in the Jegs catalog. What did yours end up looking like?
3/8 is the i.d. of the line I believe. Not sure if it will give you enough meat to thread too if any. Maybe 7/16, 9/32, etc.
Edit: Sorry brain fart, meant to say 15/32
