I've done a search but can't find anything concrete.
I will be converting to an LTCC ignition and I have everything but the spark plug wires. Will LS1 style "straight" plug ends work with Hooker/Jethot headers? I haven't had any time to go out and test every single plug. If anyone has run LS1 style plug ends on a long tube car, let me know how it worked out.
I'd love to use the ThunderRacing coil relaction brackets and wires for my conversion but I'm not sure if the stock LS1 ends will work with my headers. It would be an easy (expensive) way out for my install if they did.

I think it's going to depend on where you mount your coils, if you have them the same place as a stock LS1 then the LS1 plugwires should fit.

I would like to mount them under the cowl. As long as the straight connector on the spark plug side can clear the primaries, I will have enough wire to go around other things.
I think this weekend, I'll just have to test a stock LS1 plug wire on all the plugs to see clearence.

Check Thunder Racing I believe they sell a mounting kit with wires to mount the coils under the cowl, I think this is the kit I'm going to use so I can keep my stock SS ramair.
Just FYI:
I went out and checked a set of LS1 style straight plug ends. They will NOT fit with jet hot/hooker headers. Many of the plug wires will not fit at all.
I was looking at the Thunder kit and that is why I asked the question about the plug ends (because the kit comes with LS1 plug ends). I called today and spoke with Angie at Thunder and she will be calling Taylor to check on the price for switching to 90 degree plug ends. If the kit were identical but with the 90 degree ends, it should fit with some zip ties.
I will post back with price, time and useability when I get the call from Thunder. If it all works out, I will mention to Thunder that this might be a no cost additional product to offer for the LT1/LTCC crowd.

Cool because my LTCC just arrived and I still need to get my coils, mounting brackets and wires. Do you have any pics of where you mounted the LTCC box and how you routed your wiring harness, I'm trying to get some ideas.
Havent mounted them yet. I'm trying to get away with using the thunder kit and then mounting the box on the strut tower area.

This kit wont work as is because of the spark plug ends.

No way in hell you can use straight ends. I've got mine mounted on the valvecovers pointing out towards each fender with 90 degree boots on the plug side and I still have to run heat sleeves on each wire.

I have an LTCC. I mounted the coils on the valve covers by using parts from the LS1 coil relocation kit Thunder sells. The coils don't fit that well under the cowl on LT1s. They seem to fit better on LS cars. I ordered a custom set of plug wires from MagneCor. Wires were custom made to fit my car, I just provided the required lengths. They're 10.5mm w/ 90 deg on both ends.

I can't fit the coils on my valve covers (I have nitrous parts on there). What was the problem with mounting them under the cowl? Clearence issues? Wire routing?Originally Posted by joe-96z1le

I am referring to the use of the LS1 coil relocation bracket Thunder sells. It will work on an LT1 car (under the cowl) but it doesn't look or fit near as well as it does on the LS cars. But, in your case, sounds like you'll have to consider this option.

Why doesn't it fit well? Would you mind elaborating on your experience with them?Originally Posted by joe-96z1le

I don't want to spend $200 on something that wont work well. My options are limited and this seemed like a good option. If it isn't, I'd appreciate any info you'd care to share.
Thanks,

Not an LTCC, but there's always this approach - top of engine is clean, no burned wires with headers, etc.:

This is actually my backup plan. Are your coil supports screwed directly to the radiator core support? Do they serve as your grouding points?Originally Posted by Injuneer

I have a low mount alternator, so I may have to get crazy with the wire routing. Maybe mount the coils higher (like on the frame rails).
