Exclamation Low voltage problem on 3rd gen?

My windows go up very slow. Also if I have the headlights and fog lights on my heater fan will barely blow heat. When I turn off all the lights it speeds up. I have the original alternator on the 1987 car. My volt meter shows voltage drops to 7 when acc., lights are all on.

Do I just need a newer alternator? Also how many amps are safe? I see them from 60 to 100amps.
