long start on 98 z28

well i have a 98 z28 6spd, and its got a problem on start up,,, you have to crank it for awhile, seems like the fuel bleeds off when it stays parked for awhile..cuz i can get in it start it up let it run for a bit, shut it down and crank it again and it will fire up..so i am leaning towards the fuel pressure regulator..havent ran any fp tests yet, dnt have the gauges or any of that at the moment....so my question is what should the pressure be at key on before cranking, and how long should the pressure hold? Also where can i or do i find the fuel pressure regulator at? Im fairly new to the ls1 so plz bare with me!

I've got a '93 Corvette (LT1) that has the same problem. It sometimes wants to crank over for several seconds before it will finally fire. Like you said, it's almost like the fuel bleeds back as the car is sitting.

I can answer Realdeal however I looked at the OP and I do not know enough about the LS engines to answer the question. In the LT1 majority of pressure leak-down is caused by the check valve in the fuel pump. Other causes can be leaking injector that may show as a rich black smoke start, but not always. The regulator leaking fuel through the vacuum line to the intake, you can visually look or smell that by pulling and inspecting the vacuum line. Or the regulator could not be holding pressure after sitting a while.
My car holds pressure overnight and even longer. here is where the reg is on my car , ref shbox.com http://shbox.com/1/fp_reg.jpg
