Leaking injectors causing lean?

Hi I have 2 or 4 leaking fuel injectors...I also have glowing headers, which I have heard is a cause of going too lean...Could my leaking fuel injectors be causing my car to run lean? Also I put a walbro 255 in my car but maybe had a problem sealing the case that mounts to the sending unit. Could that case have something to do with it as well?

P.S. Someone also told me my glowing headers is too rich, with too much unburnt fuel. I have LT1 Edit, but no scanner so I dont know which way to go, Im also thinking maybe an injector is bad...

Thanks

Some of the problems it seems you may have figured out yourself. Buy yourself a fuel injector o-ring kit, 17113544 (~$10). If the leak gets bad enough in the right conditions you'll have a much bigger problem on your hands (fire).

Hooking the car up to a scanner will definitely be a big help. If you have a very high misfire count on a specific cylinder, that would be a pretty good clue that an injector may be bad or it will possibly lead you in some other directions. Have you pulled the rail to confirm you have leaking injectors?

No I havent pulled the rail, but the front 4 have yellowish stains around the intake, which my buddy/mechanic told me were leaking. I am also getting a light tapping sound under load which is also a symptom of bad injectors. Also my car is hard to start when its cold(takes a couple cranks), but if I turn the key on and off a few times to prime the pump, it will start the second it turns over. I am using a walbro 255 in the tank. Will someone tell me the purpose of the plastic casing around the pump though? I dont think my JB plastic held up when I replaced the pump, and I am sure that it is leaking, but didnt think anything of it since the entire assembly is in fuel. Maybe thats a problem also??? I havent checked the fuel pressure yet, but I also want to blame the FPR. Thanks for your time

turn the car off and on twenty times to let the pump prime and check for fuel around the injectors, it sound like you have major problems. you need to get a fuel pressure gauge and scanner on this thing before nuclear meltdown. if the headers are glowing you need to stop driving this car and get it checked out. the tapping noise under accel leads me detonation not really injectors
