keeps stalling?? please help newbe
well i just bought a 95 z28 a4 with 119000 miles i had a 350 mile trip home and it stalled about 8 times. i would drive it for about 120 miles and it would stall when cruising at 70 75 mph and if i waited 10 or so min it would start again but only run for about 3 mins so the first time it stalled on the highway i stoped tried to start it wouldnt start waited 15 mins then started up and got it to a gas station put $15.00 in waited about an hour car started and drove it for another 120 mins and did the same thing so i put more gas in and waited an hour and drove almost home then it stalled on the off ramp and got it to a gas station and put another $$15.00 dollors in and drove it home any idea what it could be was about 80 degrees when i left but the last 1hr or 2 was about50 degrees outside bad pump or relay wrong gas cap bad air or fuel filter any help would be great im going to check the fuel pressure and put a new fuel filter on so i will check back
thanks bert
thanks bert
Putting a fuel pressure gauge on it would be your best bet. Try to confirm whether you have a fuel delivery problem or not. Shoebox has a good tutorial on his site that goes over fuel system troubleshooting.
well i checked the fuel pump pressure and when i turn the key on it goes to 44psi then drops to 0 psi in about 15 seconds when i start it up it goes to about 42-44 psi and when i pull the vacume line off the afpr it goes to 50 psi but i have not been able to get the car to stall again to see if it drops pressure. i also replaced the fuel filter when i got it back home . it runs great but im afraid to drive it with fear it will stall again.
i was told it has a newer walbro so any help would be great any thing else to check
thanks bert

Have you checked the vacuum line to the fuel regulator? Is it wet with fuel? Also, leaky injectors could create an issue as well. Pull the fuel rail up and put the key in the run position to energize the pump, the injectors should not leak. Also, people have installed aftermarket fuel pumps only to have them prematurely fail because of sediment and crud in the fuel tank. A few things to look into. Also, did you look at this particular link on Shoebox's site, it goes over fuel system troubleshooting very well: http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.htm...essure_testing
