Intake Manifold Guide Pins

When R&Ring the intake manifold, what did you use as guide pins to help settle in intake back into the vehicle without disturbing the RTV in the front and rear?

I've read about this but never seen a picture of it or anything specific that works well for re-seating the intake.

Thanks,

Real thin dowel rod maybe? Not a lot of room in the back to lift over a dowel tho.

I bought a couple of bolts from Home Depot and cut the heads off. I have heard of using a dowel as well, but I wanted zero play.

Look at Shoebox's photo - you only need two. They can’t be real thin because that would allow the manifold to slide as it contacted/compressed the sealant.

4 also would not work because of the angle.

Ok, thanks for the heads up. You have an RTV preference?

Ultra black or the right stuff.

make sure to follow the rtv instructions:

Assemble wet, only tighten the bolts hand tight, wait an hour.

Torque the bolts in 2 passes: http://shbox.com/ci/intake_sequence.jpg

Allow a full 24 hours to cure.
