Inline pump and fuel line setup (Chevy Vega)

Hey guys,
I am wanting to run an inline fuel pump in my Vega. I have a couple of questions, maybe you guys can help.

First, I want to use the stock pickup and sender in the tank. The stock unit comes out of the tank roughly 5/16" in size. If I run an inline pump should I flare those fittings so I can convert to AN-?

Second, I think the Aeromotive a1000 pump will be adequate. My motor is stock right now and my only planned mods are a cam and 100 wet shot. I figure that should be good for 11s.

Would it be worthwhile to stick with the stock pickup or should I sump the stock tank? My budget for the fuel system is about $400-$500.

Thanks for your help,
Colin

I guess I'll add that the motor is a stock '93 LT1/T56.

Also, the stock tank is not baffled.

I have the pump you speak of and it is a recommended by them that the tank feed from the bottom. Pump should be as close to the tank as possible. Keep in mind the pump is 10an or 5/8 of an inch. Any radiator shop can sump the tank for you, like using the universal sump from summit. http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...EE%2D4041&x=30
Reducers are all that is needed at the pump. No tighter than 100 micron filter on the input side of the filter. Filter inlet and outlet diameter are important. As are any fittings. You don't want to be too restrictive.

If you have never worked with braided line before, it can be a bitch. Best to keep with the same manufacturer of fittings and tubing. I use a Ball valve for maintenance purposes. Got to have a check valve at least. Some work and some don't.

Lots more ideas where those came from. Lot's of pics of installs of that very pump on this site
