High compression, should I get an ignition box?

I am running @ 13.0 and have been chasing some high end miss problems.

Been through optis, coils, icms, wires, plugs.

Running # .040 gap on ngks tr6 plugs.

I'm thinking at this point it wouldn't hurt, and I need a timing retard before I spray bigger.

So msd digital 6?

I think you would see some benefit of running an ignition box and having a hotter spark. Have you considered the Mallory 685 box at all? It has a timing retard and window switch as its built-in features.

I got the 685, but haven't installed it yet.

Yes, with high cylinder pressure a stronger spark is often needed. Can't say for sure your combo will see any benefit though. As far as brand, I have no big preference.

Thanks everyone, if nothing else it will be worth the piece of mind to have the soft limiter and the timing retard.

On the same topic, has anyone used the opti sensor to drive the injectors and a crank trigger to drive an ignition box?
