Gas Tank Switchout.....

HELP!!!!
PLEASE!!!!!

My boneheaded friend punctured my gas tank beyond repair while trying to install stereo components/subwoofers. I have a 2001 Trans Am WS6. Will a tank from a 2000 Camaro V6 fit and hookup properly to a 2001 Trans Am???

Really? You can't patch a plastic tank?

According to the parts book 99-02 tanks are the same (regardless of engine), unless it is an 02 Camaro V6 that has a blue tank (never heard of that one, LOL).

Thanks shoebox.

There are so many screw holes in that tank that it is hopeless. I must be missing a hole somewhere. I still get no pressure inside the tank. I think that if I got all of them there should at least be some pressure when I remove the cap for a fill up.

I am going to go ahead and buy the Camaro V6 tank. I can't go wrong for $25, I guess. Maybe one day I will get around to swapping it out.

Another thing, no pressure in the tank would probably harm the fuel pump over time. Am I right???

The tank is not going to have pressure all the time-only in certain circumstances (mostly when the air temp is high from my experience). No pressure surely won't hurt the pump (possibly the opposite if the pump has to work harder).

Thanks for all the info shoebox. You have been most helpful.

May there always be open roads and premium fuel for our tanks... LOL.
