Fuel Pump/Regulator Troubleshooting
Performed the standard tests.
- When I initially pressurize the system without starting the car, the pressure (while the pump is running for those initial seconds) rises to 45; then drops to 39 at the moment the pump stops. Once the pump has stopped, the pressure then rises from 39 up to 44 and holds for a long time. The car does have a new fuel filter. The car has 75k.
- I have 46 at idle with the vacuum line off the regulator simulating WOT. Didn't notice any fuel in the vacuum line to indicate a bad regulator.
Are those readings typical of the fuel pump while cycling the key on and off?

I thought the readings looked normal as well.
I'm having a light surging problem at around 2000 rpm. RPM will surge approx. 150 - 200 rpms. Wanted to eliminate the obvious before I pressed on. My ignition, including the opti, has less than 5000 miles on it. All the sensors have been replaced with the exception of the MAF as well approx. one year ago. Time to pull out the scanner. I'm thinking it might be the injectors. Is there a test to check them for proper operation?
