Diagnosing an ignition problem
Diagnosing an ignition problem
I have a FC2000 hooked to a Mallory HEI distributor (75 series I think). The truck ran fine for 2 years after the upgrades, and has only beeg driven 10 miles or so (used it for work on a farm occasionally).
Well it has been sitting for a year or so since and it doesn't have any spark. Battery is still at full charge (even after a year - go Interstate). I've sent emails to both manufacturers (both are under MrGasket) but they don't seem interested.
So, what I'm asking for is some simple tests that I can perform to isolate the problem. I've checked and cleaned every connection inside and out, checked the fuses, verified wiring was correct and checked all the wires for any damage.
What I guess I really need is to be able to test the coil and the FC2000, but I'm not sure how to do this. The only test equipment I have is a multimeter.
Thanks in advance,
D.
