Car no start with MSD box

My car had a problem and would not start. I bypassed the MSD box and it fired up and ran fine. Is there some way to check them to see if its still good?

Are you sure the MSD box has power?

Re: Car no start with MSD box

I realized I just changed the battery and the MSD box is connected directly to the battery. Might have missed hooking it back up. I will have to check that out. Does anyone know if there are alternate wiring options as far as where it can be hooked up?

I used the factory junction box that is on the strut tower just behind the battery with an in-line fuse.

Is it a streetfire cdi box? I had major issues with mine. Worked fine for a week then started red lighting and had too unhook it for the car too run again.

Re: Car no start with MSD box

Not saying this is your problem, but just maybe something to try...

I have a Crane Hi 6 that did that a couple weeks after I installed it. Ran for a while then randomly stalled and wouldn't start. Then later it ran, then didn't again. It turned out that it wasn't compatable with the MSD blaster coil I had, so when I changed to a Crane coil, then it has been running over 10 years without a hiccup. In my case, anyway, it was the impedance of the coil that was borderline for the box to make the box try to protect itself, turn off, and give an error light.
