Car misses/cuts out at high rpm!!!!!
Car misses/cuts out at high rpm!!!!!
Mods in sig....
Sometimes this happens and sometimes it doesnt; at WOT about 5-6k RPM my car feels like it is cutting fuel? it sounds like a revlimit tapping! it stays that way until it shifts and lowers the rpm's lower than 5k but it doesnt matter what gear i'm in just if the rpm's are high enough. sorry if this isnt much info but its really hard to describe, i was tinking the injectors need a cleaning? or my fuel pump is failing? other times the car runs out great with no hesitation at all!

also, filter has about 3,500 miles on it. think i should change it?
I bought one at the local auto parts store for $25. It has a flexible hose about 16" long so I can run it up to the windshield and I use the wiper to hold it in place. You want it to be in the high 30's and 40's at wot.
If it was the coil wire, then engine load, not necessarily rpm, might make it harder for the plug to fire, then the voltage tries to leak out the plug wires to ground. So higher gear = more load @ lower rpm. So it would vary the rpm at different gears or engine load (like going up a hill). Same with a bad coil, although heat can also make the coil miss if it is bad internally. You could have a weak coil that can't fire a large plug gap, too.
Another thing is heat range of your plugs - they can miss if they are too hot, but that depends on your power level, and NGK have a wide heat range, so it might not be that. Also, if nothing else works, look at the plugs. If you have a cracked one, it can act up at a certain load and be hard to find.
Do the fuel check first though - that is easiest, and we all know the pumps go bad from old age.
