Anyone know how to Test the Optical Sensor within the Optispark?

Hi Guys,

I'm in need of yet another opti ...

This will be opti #3 since the building of my 383 LT1 some 4 years ago and approx. 7,000 miles ... The motor was built with a new opti installed, then one was added at around 4K milles and know @ 7K I need another ...

I'm sure the reason that I don't drive it very much hasn't helped anything ...

However, I'd like to test my collection of optics to see if they are Good or Bad, but I'm not sure how this needs to be performed ... I was thinking that if the optical sensor in one of my opti is still good that maybe I could just replace the rotor, etc ...

Does anyone know of the proper method?

But then again, maybe I shouldn't chance it and just go for the $240 Delphi/Delco opti that I've found and consider this as a tune up item that needs replacing every couple years (which sucks) ...

I had thought of using a LTCC or Delteq system but you still need the opti optical sensor and this is what more that likely craps out ...

Thanks!
