Unhappy Acting like a dead short when attempting to start

I have a 1996 Z28 6 speed seemingly all stock. I have had the car for 3 years with no starting problems. Just yesterday in my garage I went to start it and as soon as the key is pushed to the start position all the electrics "die" as in a dead short. If I wiggle the battery the electrics come back on but no success in starting - the whole cycle starts again. Anyone have any ideas where to start to troubleshoot.
Thanks for any and all assistance.

Bad connection, cable or battery.

Yep.... sounds like corrosion buildup on the battery cables/terminals, or badly corroded cable strands.
