97 z28 wont start... bad gas??? Project for an old vet

I recently bought a 97 z28 from the original owner. It was a weekly driver up till 4 years ago when he drove it home from the gas station and parked it in his garage. A bad knee prevented him from driving it. He fired it up onfront of me year and a half ago. He sold it to me last week but when he went to fire it up no dice. Ive changed the fuel filter, drained the gas and still no start. Got it to start twice with starter fluid for a sec but just died. Im getting pressure all the way up to the relief valve...

thoughts...

The old trick is to bang on the gas tank 2 or 3 times with a rubber mallot(don't use hammer as sparks could ruin your whole day).If it starts and runs then it's the fuel pump going south.Hope this helps.
Any codes?

What pressure are you getting at the Schrader valve when the fuel pump primes?

Have you checked for spark?

Have you scanned it for codes?
