95 Z28 starts hard, have to press gas peddle

Hello, I want to thank every one for helping me on my last problem. I have got the skipping problem fixed but now when the car is cold it will not start unless I press on the gas peddle. After it does start and warms up if you give it a quick jab it will hesitate then rev. It is stock except for a set of headers. Thanks AJ

Are you holding the accel pedal to the floor to start it? If so, that puts it in "clear flood" mode, reducing the amount of fuel the injectors supply. If its starting better with the pedal on the floor, it may indicate leaking injectors loading up the cylinders with fuel on shutdown, or a problem with the coolant temp sensor, causing the PCM to set too rich a "cold start" A/F ratio. Have you checked the fuel pressure bleed-down when you shut the engine off?

Hard starting

Fred, thanks for the information. Yes I am holding the gas to the floor. I checked the fuel pressure and it holds at 38lbs. I have tried to scan the engine but from reading other links I know now why I can't. Today I am going to look for an adapter for my scan tool. Again thanks for the info. AJ
