110 Octane

I was thinking of puting some 110 oct. gas in the SS and I was wondering if it would hurt anything if I did it. I know it would perform a whole lot better. I dont have to worry about the cats cause I dont have any so is there anything to know before I put some in the old gas tank?

Judging from you sig, it looks like you will be wasting your money big time. Your car won't run any better on the 110 octane then it will on the 93.

if you don't have any knock retard on 93...than stepping up to 110 will show a VERY minimal gain if any....other than a lighter wallet

Increasing the octane doesn't add power. Octane reduces the ability of gas to ignite prematurely. So, as stated above, you would only gain power if the PCM is currently retarding timing due to sensing knock.

Here's a link to a more thorough explanation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating

It would also ruin your catalytic converter and O2 sensors due to the high lead content.

Thanks guys for the input. I wasnt going to fill up the tank just mix a gallon or two with the 91 that is already in there. I will be saving the 7.00 a gallon for something else then.
