the sts system is good but I would go with a front mounted turbo. Try GMRspeed.com or hi -flo turbo kits but there pretty backed up from what I hear. Good luck on your F.I. purchase.

Is the GMR ready for the LT1 yet? I kept posting asking for updates on it, but they never responded. I ended up going with a PTK kit.

I would have gone STS, but I am lowered, and plan on going down to approx 2" lowered total, and would have ground-clearance issues.

GMR Speed is in the process of mocking up the LT1 Front mount kit currently on my car. The kit will be similar to their LS1 kit from what they told me. They should have them ready for purchase in the next few months. My car will be a completely built 383, and most likley a T76. I'll post updates on my car as it progresses.

An option I haven't seen many go with (if you already dont have longtubes) is to go with the LT1 kit which runs the intake pipe up the center over the Kmember and run shorty headers. I don't see longtubes making much of a difference and there is no ground clearance problem with the LT1 STS kit even on lowered cars like mine. I have been running the base kit for about 3 years strong.

That's weird. When I looked at the kit online, it looked like the piping drooped down pretty far under that axle, and was exposed running under the car.

Re: ya or nay on sts turbo

I saw an STS system being installed on a car at a local shop. It seems like with this kit that you loose the drivers side subframe connector to install the intake pipe that runs from the turbo to the throttle body. And yes, the pipes do hang down low, and looks kinda rediculous when you see it on the road. Hey, how come you have one subframe connector sitting in your closet.......

Here is an under side pic of an LT1 kit, and some others on the page where you can see the difference from the LS1 kit.

Added:
Installation fitment with the rear LS1 pipe can be tweeked to fit better, sorta learn little tricks after working with them a while. Yes, with the LS1 kit you would loose the SFC on the drivers side unless you did some additional fabricating.

I saw the kit on an LS1 Formula (Might have been a TA, I dont recall) that was stock height. The rear pipe going under the rear axle was about 3 inches off the ground at one point.

I thought both pipes went over the rear axles (intake and xhaust pipes)?

Re: ya or nay on sts turbo

Both pipes do go over the rear end. The charge pipe just before the rear tire, is usually the lowest point on the kit. But, I'm stock height, and never hit that pipe on anything. It could also be modified to alleviate some of that...if it's that big of a concern.

I'm talking about where NYSS guy is saying. I think it's dangerously low there, not to mention the pipe that "replaces" the subframe connector. To me that is probably even more vulnerable.
