XX-trim Project

Well, I've decided to abandon my YSI and build a new LS1 setup based around a Vortech XX-trim, which means new:

fuel pump
fuel rails
injectors
aftercooler
EMU
heads
cam
valve train

It's only money.

>some questions for you ...
- what bracket will you use for the XX-trim ?
- won't the Aftercooler restrict the amount of air from the XX-trim ?
- will there be enough room for a blower that size ?
- and ... will you have to remove the air pump ?

Custom bracket and aftercooler. It should fit but I will mock it up first. No air pump.

What kind of times did you get out of the YS-setup? I've never seen a true LS1 supercharged car run it's *** off yet. I would think a YS-based setup would be pretty damn quick.

Well, ironically, I have a new YSI blower that has never made a run down the track. I've just decide to change to the XX because the car would not otherwise be as fast as it needs to be.

I've heard there's a couple of Lt/LS cars out there running high 8s on the YS blower.

I can think of one LT1 running that time. All the YS-trim LS1s "should" run that, but could woulda shoulda...you know.

Well I just bought a brand new YSi trim for high 9s, I've seen a few YS-trims go 9.00s @158-159 mph on the 1/4 so I assume that the YSi, being more efficient and flowing a bit more it should reach the 8.9s@160mph mark. with 160mph and a good launch one can get into the 8.7s at the same mph.

Ronnie Duke.....fastest ls1 at the moment.

387ci C5R, F1-R blower, 400 trans, 9", 3.90 gear.........8.52 @163mph.

why just an 8?..........its a 3692lb convertible.

with all the huge ls1 projects ive seen glimpses of, im sure there will be people in the low 8's and high 7's eventually.

No LS1 owner has ever been more frustrated with his/her car than I am with mine, and its coulda, mighta, woulda, shoulda, hope-to-a, shouldn't it, why doesn't it crap. A SBC would have been soooOOOO much easier.

XX?

all blower this time or will you still be spraying?

Also, Ronnie/Kurt sprayed on that 8.52 pass, but he has run 8's on blower alone.

Stealh, are you going to use an air/water or the same front mount?

you know, you could go SBC and still run Outlaw in the LS1tech stuff. just need to keep the suspension and EFI.

I say go NA and throw a 4-link in....just because

I'll use a small shot to cool the charge.

C5R...F-1R...that's sledgehammering into the 8s. I'm talking about a production aluminum/iron block, running production heads (LS6/LS1/5.3/6.0), running the number that they should. Not trying to knock anyone, but I'm just not seeing the track numbers matching up with the dyno numbers. I think that will change in '04 though. Meaney's Big Stuff system looks like it's gonna be the hot ticket for blower cars.
