If you can find a D1 for 2k then id say go for it, although more than likely it would be overkill for your motor. Oh and of course any Vortech is better than the p600
I was joking too. And I wasnt really refering to a stock bottom end motor for a p600b's duty

You hit the nail right on the head. ALL prochargers are LOUD as crap. Some people find it annoying, I find it soothing. My car has been a daily driver for over 5 years with the blower and still to this day I can make the 45min drive to work and not even have to turn on the radio because I love the way the blower sounds. Others(like my girlfriend) will beg to differ.

As for the tensioners....they are crap. You basically have to install it right and leave it. If you make it too tight, youll destroy it. If you loosen and tighten it too many times youll also destroy it. I went through 3 tensioners in 5 years on the p600 then I got the D1...guess what....same tensioner. Thats about the only complaint I have about the procharger system, I really wish they would upgrade them things somehow.

I've been watching this thread for a while, because I just bought a p600b off of a friend a couple weeks ago. Got a hell of a deal so I could not pass it up. I think I'll be happy with it.

The noise part of the SC for me is cool. I can really say that to me it is part of the reason why I went and got a ATI. Yes they are louder than other setups but if I wanted a stealthy car I would have gotten a ford crown vic. As for the tensioner, yes they are a pain. I still have my first tensioner, but they are not the best design. There are other tensioner kits out there that can be used in lue of the ATI one and I have heard they work great, but I really would not know since I personnal do not have one. But like my tensioner you have to be very careful not to overtighten it and work it over sereral times to see where the proper"tightness" is. Good Luck.

I like the sound of a blower too ....just not sure if I'd want to hear it all of the time. As long as it's not piercing loud I might actually like it. Someone trying to sell me another P600B told me it is no louder than an S-Trim. If that's true then it wouldn't bother me as I've heard S-Trims and think they're sort of tame actually. I have the same issue with the tensioner on my Powerdyne ....it's a PITA but it at least doesn't break ...that's pretty ridiculous.

Maybe someone has a sound clip of a P600B so I can get an idea of what it sounds like?

Haha, No...Its a lot louder than a S-trim. I have a couple of 1-2meg videos of my car and my friends T-trim, they are comparable in sound. Let me know if you want me to email them to you.

Yea, I think its louder than a s-trim as well. Like CJ said I dont mind the sound either If I wanted to have a qiet stealthy s/c I would have gotton a sq series blower. But since Im a fan of ATI I prefer the loud wine. The Next blower I get Im probably going to spend the coin and get the sd-concepts tensioner as I heard the dont flex as much and prevent belt slippage.

Yeah, that'd be cool. The dude trying to sell me one actually told me he thinks it's a little quieter than his friend's S-trim ....lol. Maybe his friend really had the T-Trim and he just doesn't know better. Who knows though, if I hear it and decide, "yeah, it's loud but not enough to bother me" ...I may forget about the noise thing. Like you all on some level I would be sure to like it. Lack of whine is one of the downfalls of the Powerdyne IMO .....I wish it was at least a tad more audible. With the new cam I doubt I'll hear it at all.

I bought mine used and it is probably about 5 years old now and still going fine. The P600 is way louder than an S-trim. It seems about 1500rpm is really screams. The noise has a cool factor sometimes and an annoyance factor sometimes. It is the smallest blower Procharger makes but, will give you enough to get to high 10's/low 11's in the quarter with the right engine. If you can get a good deal on it I would get it... if you can get a D-1 for alittle more I might lean towards that.
