Friends car....99 vette targa A4. Cat back exhaust, CAI, nx 100 shot. Dont know if he has a bottle warmer or not.

My car..93 z28 m6. Hac headers, maganflow catback, crane 1.6 RR'S, Ati procharger with D1SC and twin highflow intercoolers on 8 psi.

He raced when we both were NA, and on streeet tires and i pulled a car ahead to 100+. I have bfg drag radials now about 50% cashed....

 

IF you can drive the wheels off the car, then you should get him.

yes i am a way better driver than he is, he has problems launching an auto....mods in sig are b4 procharger of course.

yea this kid just put his 100 shot on and is running his mouth to everyone that n20 is always better than FI...we will see....any other opinions?

 

Given the cars have the same peak HP numbers, yeah, he's right, the spray will do better. Have you looked at the torque curve of a nitrous motor vs a supercharged motor? He takes his NA curve and jumps it 100hp everywhere, where as a supercharged motor only makes it increase in the upper end.

But the key here is that comparison is only valid if the peak horsepower numbers are the same. If you've got more HP, then that's all that matters. And if he can't launch, then you're that much further ahead of him.

Your friends car being an auto will respond better to the nitrous then it would with a supercharger(CF style), do to the fact that he drops his rpm's so much when he shifts. He's also got the advantage in the upper end of the race with him staying in his prime RPM band longer, and when he does shift he puts power to the ground the entire time.


Race him and find out.

 

i will race him either way....when we raced NA, he couldnt launch well, and i got the car ahead right away. The gearing in his car left him in first gear for a long while, and by the time he was out of first, i was out of second. I just dont know if a 1oo shot will be enough considering im on dr's and i will have about 150 hp from the procharger on 8 psi and twin intercoolers. I will be getting a dyno tune soon, so we will see what kinda peak numbers i will put down. It will prolly be a race from a roll, because i dont want to blow my 10 bolt. What mph is s good roll point for me to catch him at to get an advantage? 40 mph? Any other opinions or tips are appreciated.

 

Mph doesnt matter.... Just pick a speed where your car is turning at least 3k RPM. This way youll be making more boost, and you should waste him

 

I really want to see that race either way. Some good points have already been made, you've got more maximum hp, but his powerband is broader, it should be a very animated race.

I'm almost positive that by the end of the race you will be going faster than he is, but what i'm not sure of is where you will be when you start doing that.

My 00' C5 A4 went 12.5@111mph 1.91 60' with just a filter, x-pipe and Z06 mufflers. Add a 100shot wetkit to that and some slicks and your talking deep 11s.

 

I would hope your car would win. I wouldn't be scared with my car and we have similar setups.

If he can't launch n/a, he will make it worse by spraying it. Scare him, let him choke, and watch him burn his tires off as you win.

 

its a 100 dry shot. He also has street tires. he has CAI, corsa catback and a chip. We will see...hope he launches on the bottle!
