What would you do?

What would you do if you were in my shoes?
I have the money to order some off the self Trick Flow 62cc heads and a custom grind turbo cam. (Advanced Inductions)

OR.....
Should I wait a few weeks and go with there 200cc heads (stock p&p heads) and custom grind turbo cam? (Advanced Inductions)

Decisions decisions....

What does your CR look like (piston choice)?

You may need the 62cc TFS heads to lower the CR.

more details!

i would go with the trickflows.... the lower cr will help much more then the extra head flow(if were talking about a stock bottom). Remember that the volumetic efficency when under boost is much more then NA.

This is what I have
3.480 4340 crank
5.7" H beam rods
-22cc Dished Diamond Pistons (Part # 11420)

Many factors come into the CR part so I cant tell you what it will be. I am aiming for 9:0.1 or something near that.

Would it be a significant gain over the TFS heads? Any Idea what CR maybe using a felpro 1074 gasket? I know the A.I package can go anywhere from 52-56cc. If the gain isn't much over off the self TFS heads then I'll go with the TFS head and have them CNCed come winter.

Thats a tough call for me. They are both good options. I have had no problems with my compression ratio which is a little high at around 9.2 to 1 with stock heads and -20cc pistons and a 56cc bowl. I've never tried the trickflows but they flow pretty good out of the box and are priced right. If I didn't already have ported lt1 heads I would go with the trickflows out of the box.

the main question is how much power you looking to make? a stock casting head can flow pretty good but the head itself isnt very thick, and at high hp you will need the thicker deck of a afr ect......and the power gains depend on if your comparing them to an afr 195, or 227. ask for flow numbers and you will see the diff the heads flow. like i said before its ALL depends on the power you want to make!

600+hp is my goal... Better yet I want a constant high 10's "street" car.

stock casting head will be fine for that, what is the price diff, if it aint too much, or you will want to make more power later on go with the afr's

Spoke with Ron at A.I. and suggested I go with the TFS heads for now, and later down the line have them cnced for a somewhat significant gain. So it looks like I am going TFS heads and a turbo cam from them.... Wish me luck!
