What Timing controler should I use? Help!!!!

Hey guys,
I have a 97 SS w/ built 350 8:1 compression and 12# of boost. I have a MSD 6al with the Boost timing master ad-on box... When I run the motor up it misses at about 5300rpm.. I was told the MSD 6al output was causing the Opti to miss a rotation of the motor... The Opti and motor are Brand new.. less then 50 miles on them... What timing retard box can I use that doesn't amp the signal like the MSD 6al or 6btm? Anyone have a problem like this? Thanks for the help!

What plugs/gap are you running? Are you sure it's not fuel related. I have a 6AL and works fine to 6200.

I'm running NGK TR60 gapped at .35... Fuel seems fine it misses at 5300rpms and is fine at about 5400... on the Dyno graph there is a gap between 5100 or 5200 and 5400rpms. It looses the Ignition signal.

Thanks,
Jay

also... The Dyno graph looks really rough when I have the MSD hooked up (ie. /\/\/\/\/\/\)... then when I unplug the MSD the graph smooths out (ie.__________).

Thanks,
Jay

I have no idea if the timing reatrd box has anything to do with your problem, but as far as I am concerned the best method for controlling timing is through the PCM. Just adjust to the desired advance in the 95 and 100kPa area.
