ATI to turbo

i am thinking of going from a s/c to a turbo and was wondering who makes a kit for the ls1's. i looked into quartermileperformance but they have yet to respond to me. i need the turbo, BOV, manifolds and tubing from them to turbo to fmic to intake and AEM with tune.
also, which turbo are you guys running and how are they working out for you.
i have a 383 LS6 with 8.5 ATI @ 14#'s 683rwhp/647rwtorq.
i was thinking about a T76. this is not a drag car and i don't want to wait for 3mins to spool like my friends single turbo supra. i was told that the t76 should give me full boost by 2,800rpms with my motor. any and all input or idea's will be great. thanks!!

Re: ATI to turbo

Looks like your motor is already built, so maybe look into Turbo Technologies race kit for the LS1.

Re: ATI to turbo

Randy, nooooooo. You're not allowed any more horsepower.

I've always heard good things about turbo tech. If ya haven't already done it, I'd suggest a tubular K-member.

DO NOT use an AEM. We used to be AEM's midwest installer/tuner (technically we still are), but stopped selling, installing or tuning them after literally every single one we installed had major issues. Most common is that they don't want to hold timing. They like to vary by as much as + or - 6 degrees completely at random. This led to a very expensive single turbo Supra breaking a motor. The customer converted to a VPC and is extremely happy. We also removed the AEM from a customer's Fox-body and changed it over to a stock computer with a Superchips tune. The car made the same power through an MAF and went from 6 MPG to over 15 MPg with stock driveability.

Do yourself a favor and get a FAST. Do it once and do it right.

Re: ATI to turbo

smoknz, yes it is. and thanks for the info. i sent them an email about ordering parts of their race kit.

roadie - and why not?! i was going to do the k-member but thats alot of $$ for very little weight savings. or do you mean i need it for the clearance issues? you never know when you might need even more power. see, now you know why i said you need to buy my D1-SC headunit.....hehe, you thought i was joking!!

chrisbequick - thanks for the info. had no idea AEM was having problems like that. i have a buddy that just blewup his single turbo supra motor and he has an AEM unit. i heard about the FAST system but very $$. but i guess you have to do what you have to do.

thanks again all!

Re: ATI to turbo

clearance reasons... the tubular k-members open up a TON of room under the car to shove stuff (namely turbos) into. Plus, it makes plug changes a lot easier from the bottom.
