What stall and rear gear ratio for turbo car?
Re: What stall and rear gear ratio for turbo car?
I contacted the Vigilante folks for my setup (3,650 T76 turbo car, TH350, 3.55 gears) and they said they recommended (at least) a 3800 stall. The 2800 stall I had from them originally was terrible off the line. My wifes Van (2002 Dodge Grand Caravan) could smoke me off the line. Lol... I will get it restalled to 4K.

I emailed Precision but haven't heard back yet. I don't think the 2800 is too bad, but then again I can't really get on it below about 40mph. I can roll into it in second and still control it pretty well. I'll switch out the gears to probably a 3.08 and see what that does, then maybe I'll be able to use first gear and I'll see what the stall does then. My buddy has a 3600 stall and really likes it, but his combo is nothing like mine, he just dropped in a 6.0 with a big cam.
Re: What stall and rear gear ratio for turbo car?
I liked the highway gears best because it was much easier to control on the street. I had 3.42's for awhile and car just wouldnt hook under 50mph rolls in any gear even on my wastegate boost of 9-10psi. Went to 2.73's and on the 9-10psi level, I can do some 2nd gear rolls from 35-40mph...hooked ok. Great mix for street driving with the Th400 and 4000 stall surprisingly enough. Converter is tight during normal driving so it moves the car well. Its not as snappy as a n/a build with those deeper gears when normally driving but it doesnt have to be
