What Option Would You Go With

Thanks to RSKrause for giving me this dilemma. You da' man.

Option A: Callies Dragonslayer 3.75" Crank and rods comparable to Lunati Pro Mod or Manley Pro Series in a 6" length;

or

Option B: Lunati Sledgehammer 3.75" crank and keep the forged Eagle H-Beam 5.7" rods;

This is for a high output 383 with a D-1SC, TFS heads (LE ported), ect looking to make as much power as it will. Only issue with money is that it would slightly back up the engine build.

I just can't decide. The Lunati/Eagle combo would save me about $800-1200 for the rods, but the Callies/good rod combo is pretty dang sweet. Thanks in advance.

If your rods are in good shape, keep 'em!

Re: What Option Would You Go With

I run a Callies Dragon Slayer crank, and Manley billet rods in my 396. I was very impressed with the quality of both products. All the rods came weight matched to +/- a gram, and the balance job on the Dragon Slayer was perfect right from Callies. They both make for a bullit proof combination. Yeah, I know, its way overkill for my motor, but thats the way I build things.

UMMMMMMMM maybe its me but maybe you should just get the car running before buying any new parts

BTW I sold the Z06 Got a kid coming in June bought the wife a 4dr BMW and I've inhiereted the Vert...more to come

I think either one of those setups would do nicely so I would go with the less expensive of the two. Unless you are going all and I mean all out which I don't think your car is even setup for then its not going to matter. Thats the great thing about blowers

Sounds like you prefer to throw money away Seriously though, like Rich said, if the rods are in good shape then keep the Eagles and use the $$ toward other stuff.

Keep the 5.7" eagles.

You're building a FI gas burner, so I think your 5.7" rods, which has less dwell time at TDC, should be the better choice.

I've been throwing away money on that bastard car of mine for almost three years now. What's a little more??

Seriously, I've already decided to go with the Sledgehammer Crank and keep the Eagle 5.7"s. Done deal there.
