What header flanges?
What header flanges?
Hey I was just wondering what header flanges you guys use on your header builds. I was planing on using regualer SBC circles, will they work? Could I use 1 3/4 or would I need to use 1 5/8?
This will be on LE2 heads.

Most or all of LT1 headers I have seen use round ports. Wouldn't you pick the size based on what size primaries you're using? Or is primary size part of the question?
No i was asking about which size bc i heard 1 3/4 ovels wonts work on LT1s. I found a set of 1 3/4 rectrangle and they work (as the headers I have on there now are rectangle.

Jon, I'd like to see you or one of these other enterprising guys use these flanges so you could make a primary as big as you want and we could still bolt them to the heads.

on my first turbo kit using some headers i bought from realquick, they had an extension on them to get the bolts out further. However, I could not use regular header bolts, i had to go to the hardware store and buy bolts since they needed to be that much longer. Still worked fine though.
how bout these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/D-por...spagenameZWD1V
Dave, I build all my kits with the assumption that the stage 8 header bolts will be used. These bolts have the allen wrench hole in the center, this way you can use a nice 1/4" drive ratchet and allen head socket. Makes life easier than using a wrench... plus you dont need to fit a socket around the outside of bolt head (where there is no room).
I used those initially but getting an allen wrench of the proper length/shortness had been problematic. I now use ARP 12point header bolts and they work well though I still have to use about 3 Stage 8's. How's life Jon!? Hope things are going well.
